Last summer I worked for Nuvo Newsweekly as the online entertainment news reporter/glorified intern. Here are a few videos from some of my assignments.
1. As interns we were sent to downtown indy to see the “baby T-Rex” which actually ended up terrifying Randi and I.
2. NUVO checked out the Amp Harris & Reggie Wayne “Saving Our Youth” Celebrity Basketball Game and interviewed celebrities Antwan Tanner (One Tree Hill) and Big Tigger (BET’s 106 & Park). FYI: Observe the sound… this is what happens when both of the mics go out :).
3. Let’s Meet PBS in the Park.
This was one of the first interviews I did… lesson learned? Children do not like to be interviewed. lol
4. Kim’s “Best of Indy” picks for the “Best of Indy” issue. This was the best assignment expect for my tragic, tragic fall…

I am a self proclaimed shopaholic, If I could shop all day everyday I would. I have mastered the art of online shopping, it is actually a problem. When I am stressed out sometimes I will search online stores for hours to clear my mind, until I realize that it is 3 a.m. and I have not had food or water for eight hours. It is crazy how much I love it.
People are always asking me where I shop and what websites are the best. I am slowly putting together lists of websites here are a few to get you started.
Shopstyle.com is amazing! Tons of online designers and stores, and you can shortlist what you want. It is like having a virtual personal shopper at you manicured finger tips.
The main thing I love about Shopstyle.com is that you can build your own looks in your style book, and look at other members looks and style books and comment on them. You can set sale alerts and as soon as the product goes on sale you will be notified. Also you can search beauty and cosmetic products.
Shopbop has the latest fashions, designer handbags and accessories at ShopBop.com! It is my favorite website. A great feature on the website is the Shop a trend option. You will love this link. Warning: price tags range from cheap to expensive.
This website has every look you could want. ASOS is a UK based online store, for your convenience you can change the currency on the site before you start shopping. They have great dresses and accessories! Send me feed back on what you think about ASOS.
Go to the online store and get a taste of L.A. I lived in Los Angeles this past summer and this was a must stop on my Saturday shopping list. Kitson is a celebrity driven store. Some of my favorites in the store are the hoodies, designer handbags, accessories, and sandals. They recently started carrying House of Harlow 1960 by Nicole Richie, Nicole created the vintage inspired jewelry collection from her own style.
Paris Hilton can be found there on any given day. Loves it!
5. Bluefly.com
The ultimate spot for the fashion obsessed. You can find designer clothes at discount prices at Bluefly, designer dresses, shoes, and handbags. Bluefly was recently featured on the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic. In the video above Patricia Field the stylist stylist for Confessions of a Shopaholic gives insight into what inspired Rebecca Bloomwood’s look for the movie.
That is all for now. I am going to start adding fashion and style posts regularly, so check back often!
Politically correct or not Miss California Carrie Prejean, spoke her mind Sunday night at the 2009 Miss USA pageant. An answer that might have cost her the crown.
Her response has gained much attention and controversy concerning gay rights.
During the onstage interview portion Miss California was asked her views on gay marriage, she responded:
“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”
The onstage interview is about being able to answer a question with a well thought out answer, not your politically stance. I think that the media is taking this to extremes, whether you believe in same sex marriage or not we need to remember that this is still a beauty pageant.
I think there has been a lot of emphasis put on a beauty pageant contestant when we are talking about politics. I don’t think she should be vilified because she choose to not take a popular stance. The berating is unnecessary and a little much.
At the end of the day she is just a young girl trying to stay true to her convictions and win a pageant.
On the last episode of Making the Band, Day26 and Donnie performed on a cruise ship while Qwanell a.k.a Q stayed behind in New York after Diddy gave him a time-out. Q had gone off the deep-end and now his crew was on a boat living up the life of luxury. The boys were happy and enjoying themselves while Q was sad and confused as to where life would take him.
Q was once the poster boy any band, label or brand would want. He was great looking, talented, hard-working and the sweetest thing you have ever seen. Yet something happened since last season where the guy who was too sweet and too perfect turned into the bad boy of Bad Boy Records.
Is it just me or does he look skinnier, his skin color more pale and his eyes now bug out of his head. There are few explanations for such an extreme transformation and I hope it isn’t the worst but it is hard to think what else could have changed Mr. Perfect into Mr. Hyde.
Meanwhile on the Danity Kane side, Dawn tries to recover after learning that Andrea was released from her contract with Bad Boy Records. This left Dawn as the only remaining member left of Danity Kane.
The perfect relationship from last season of Q and Dawn now has both being isolated, confused and scared. They don’t know where the future holds for either of them and only God and Diddy know.
Jamie Fox might be the one person in America who is not a fan of Miley Cyrus.
After lashing out in a verbal attack against the tween star on his Sirius satellite radio show saying, Cyrus should “make a sex tape and grow up, just do some heroin like Britney Spears.”
The shocking outburst was in reference to Cryus’ claim that she would “ruin” Radiohead, after the band rejected her a meeting at the Grammys.
Needless to say Billy Ray Cyrus found nothing funny about Foxx’ comment. Even though Foxx apologized to the Cyrus family, it is not water under the bridge for papa Cyrus.
Here is Billy Ray Cyrus on The Bonnie Hunt Show responding to the comments:
What are your thoughts on Jamie’s ill-advised “advice”?
The date for the much anticipated “Sex and the City 2” sequel has been set for May 28,2010. According to Variety magazine Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will all return.
Details surrounding the movie have not been confirmed yet, although we do know that a baby is out of character for Carrie and Mr. Big. Back in November Sarah Jessica Parker told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, “Motherhood doesn’t seem as if that’s going to be a choice she’ll make. It feels a little bit manipulative to toss that into the mix because she seems so pointed in a different direction.”
What do you think should be the next step for the fabulous foursome?
For me jeans can be addicting, there are always new ones that are hot and I always want them.
The pair that caught my eye recently is the new Current Elliot Skinny Jean in Loved Destroyed as seen on Kim Kardashian, Katie Holmes, Vanessa Hudgens, Kate Beckinsale and many other celebrities. The trend takes the classic distressed jean look and mixes it with the skinny jean. This look is a more updated version of the two.
The jean is great! They are light weight, stretch and have great pockets. Perfect for dressing up or down. They also come in a white jean color. The only problem is that they run large, so size down.
Otherwise, they are near perfect! Current Elliot jeans will be hot for spring, so go buy your pair now!
You can find them on one of my favorites, Singer22.com.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star recently went through what most celebs would consider a nightmare. ”So what: I have a little cellulite. What curvy girl doesn’t!?” Kim, writes on her blog in response to the untouched photo of her for Complex magazine that was accidentally released on the Internet.
By the time the magazine could fix the mistake it was to late. The photo had already been blasted all through cyberspace.
Kim, who loves her curves and rarely misses the chance to show them off was unfazed by the comments from the press. In true Kardashian spirit, she turned this sour situation into a career booster.
I admire that she didn’t go the Beyonce route (reassuring everyone that she has a 19 inch waist, ahem) and instead refused to give the media anything negative to say. We know she is gorgeous and she has never denied us the thrill of seeing her cellulite. “My jiggle is out for the world to see.” Kim said, on season one of Keeping Up With Kardashians.
”How many people do you think are photoshopped? It happens all the time!” said Kardashian, “I’m proud of my body and my curves and this picture coming out is probably helpful for everyone to see that just because I am on the cover of a magazine doesn’t mean I’m perfect.”
